Yet another meme

Before I forget or put it too far down in my blog so that it gets missed, I want to invite you to hop over to my guest blog article at The Hussies tomorrow, April 1st. Click on:

I stayed home from work ill today and I went to the doctor. I have a contagious viral infection, so the doctor told me to stay home till Thursday so I'm not ground zero and start the plague at work. So here I am, in bed, playing on my lap top. The cough syrup with Codeine is making me feel somewhat human again. M
y throat was killing me.

Daughter #1 is on jury duty all the way in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, and she doesn't drive, so guess who took her and brought her home. Mom's Taxi Company at your service. Open even when Mom's sick. I could have let her take the bus home, but that would take her hours. And I'm not too thrilled with having her hang around the downtown area.

I know the Ft. Lauderdale beaches are famous tourist attractions, but downtown isn't the safest area in the world. It's obviously not my favorite place. I stick to our little cit
y on the outskirts of the bigger metropolis unless I absolutely have to visit Ft. Lauderdale. Our little city has everything we need, unless we want to go to the beach...or get called to jury duty.

Miami's worse. I absolutely hate going to Miami and avoid it like the plague. The traffic is horrendous. Once we got stuck in a massive traffic jam and it turned out it was because traffic was being rerouted because people in Overtown were indiscriminately shooting at cars on I-95. Hardly anyone speaks English so it's like being in a foreign country. I used to work in Miami and I didn't hang around there. When we were preparing to move here, Miami sounded so exciting (so did Ft. Lauderdale) and exotic and I thought I'd hang out there a lot. Ha! Not now.

My mind
is also a little fuzzy, but I made a commitment to blog daily, so I'm cheating with another meme.

Feel free to tag yourself and let me know if you post it so I can check it out.

When I finish here, I promise my editor I'll work on my rewrite. At least I won't infect anyone working from home on the computer. Aren't computers great?

Random stuff I've done. Discuss.

( X ) Gone on a blind date. (Once. With a guy named Rex. He was nice enough but no sparks.)
( X ) Skipped school (Twice. I hid in the basement of our apartment building. I'd have had more fun going to school)
( X ) Been to Canada (once, for lunch. we were vacationing at Saginaw Island, Michigan and popped across the border for a few hours. I was 9 and with my parents.)
( ) Been to Mexico (no, but I'd love to go)

( X ) Been on a plane
( X ) Been lost (Map Quest took me about 13 hours out of the way when I was going to my friend's house in Georgia a few years ago. Do you know how pitch dark Georgia is at night? Freaky dark!)

( X ) Gone to Washington, DC (Yep. On one of those junior high school trips with a gazillion other kids.)
( X ) Swam in the ocean (Yep. I live only about 10 miles from it.)
( X ) Cried yourself to sleep (once or twice. a long time ago)
( X ) Paid for a meal with coins only (Yep. When I was a young married and in college. In fact, it was almost all pennies, not even silver.)
( X ) Done something you told yourself you wouldn't (a few times)
( ) Made prank phone calls (not that I recall. honestly)
( X ) Laughed until some kind of beverage came out of your nose
( X ) Caught a snowflake on your tongue
( X ) Danced in the rain
( X ) Written a letter to Santa
( ) Been kissed under the mistletoe
( ) Watched the sunrise with someone you care about
( X ) Blown bubbles
( X ) Gone ice skating (Yep. But I'm not any good at it. I can barely stand up on one blade. I'm a much better roller skater)
( ) Been skinny dipping outdoors
( X ) Gone to the movies alone (Once. I wanted to see "You've Got Mail" again and just wanted to enjoy it without any other distractions)

hey...i live in michigan! do you mean mackinac island? i'm just curious because that is a wonderful tourist place.
i'm glad you came to visit my blog...i'll be back to yours!!

I think that's what I meant. It's Mackinac and not Saginaw? I was only 9 when I visited. It was the most wonderful place to visit. I would love to go back and spend a lot more time. It's such a beautiful place. Do you know if that's where "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeves and Jane Seymour was filmed? It looked a lot like it to me.

Thanks for visiting. I look forward to getting to know you.

Ah, pumpkin is my favorite, but cherry is a close second!

Thanks for visiting! I'll pop back and visit here again!

Your blog looks great, Ashley.
Sorry to hear you're sick.
You're a good mom:)

Excellent and now I'm depressed because I've never been kissed under mistletoe. How does that happen at this stage in the game and being married for almost 13 years, you'd think I had done that.

Ash, hon, the blog music playing the same ten notes over and over is now lodged in my brain like a glowing ember of annoyance. Any chance you could use a whole song or shall I just keep the volume off? Yes, I know, I'm whiner, but I say this to you as a friend, please don't make me listen to that anymoreeeeeeee.

Unknown said...

I don't want that blog music. I didn't put it on intentionally and don't know how I did it. Which means I have no clue how to get it off. Do you have any ideas?

I can only think that when I put on LastFm that it did it. I like the LastFM as I have all my favorite songs on it and it plays for me whether anyone else listens to it or not. But if it's the culprit for that annoying 10 notes, I'll have to figure out something else.

Let me try to see what's causing it. I honestly don't know. Oy! That makes me feel so stupid.

LOL, Ashley, I haven't a clue. I'm mostly techno-stupid unless I really work at understanding stuff. Maybe Judith can help??

Hang in there.

Yeah, let me email Judith and see if she knows as she can create html code and I just dabble. I also left help messages for LastFM in case it's them. I've not heard back yet.
