Wednesday I talked about Equestrian Eventing in the Olympics and how I used to ride horses in my younger days. I also used to shoot archery. In fact, I was on a Jr. Olympic archery league in Cincinnati when I was a kid. Moreover, archer Darrel Pace was the star of our program. Darrel was several years older than me so he wouldn't have known who I was. But I watched him week in, week out, in amazement of his skill, wishing I was half as talented as he. I also thought he was pretty darned cute. I only have a dim memory of what he looked like, but the actor Jerry O'Connell (the first Quinn Mallory in "Sliders") reminds me of Darrell. I could be dead wrong as after all, that was many moons ago. I really loved to shoot. Not only archery but trap and skeet, rifles and pistols, with my dad. My favorite types of shooting, however, was with bow and arrow and trap. I used to go with Dad to his shooting range and do all types of shooting. They had an outdoor archery range, but I really preferred to shoot archery at the indoor range. I was never a star. In fact, I don't even recall my average. But it was fun. I don't know if it was because I was an archer or because I was a romantic (probably both) but I always loved Robin Hood and his tales. Maybe it's because I love dashing men. One thing you can be sure of, I'll be glued to the archery event when they show it. I hope they show it. I hope I've not missed it. (I wrote this several days in advance of posting it, so maybe I've seen it in between.) What's your favorite summer Olympic events? What are your favorite winter Olympic events? In the winter, I love the ice skating. I was always a roller skater but I'd love to be a better ice skater. I have trouble balancing on one blade and so have trouble roller blading, too. I'm still determined to get better at ice skating and roller blading. Guess I'd better get started. :) You'll want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, and Sandra Cox are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)

OH, I love archery! Not so much to watch but to do. There's something about flinging an arrow as an extension of yourself and hitting a target. I suck at it, but boy is it fun.
I miss the old Slider days. I used to watch that show but then they changed it.
I'd forgotten about Sliders! I also loved that show...and never missed an episode of Quantam Leap, either:)
My Olympic dreams went out the window when I discovered I had weak ankles. No Dorothy Hamill moments for me...and Mom remembers the year I desperatly tried to learn to do a correct cartwheel. To this day, I still only do round-offs. And handsprings? Forget about it. No Mary Lou moments either!
I'm really getting into Beach Volleyball this year.
There was some archery today during the day. Did you see it? I'd like to be coordinated enough to do anything that didn't involve something flying towards my face. That scares me and I close my eyes.
I'm no good at things flying at my face like softball and volleyball but I'm just fine at things that go away from my face like bowling, archery, shooting guns and I like all those. However, I love to bat, just not trying to catch fly balls. When I catch for my daughter's pitching, I wear all the catcher's gear and still sometimes I flinch.
