Is this or real? Who would be stupid or desperate enough?

DH called me tonight, laughing off his ass. As is his normal, he opened my mail before I got it. (Okay, that's a whole different blog topic or a different day). What did I receive that was so funny? A letter that starts: "You're Pre-Qualified or an unsecured personal loan o $1,000 to $3,000!" Congratulations, we at (name of loaner) value your proven financial responsibility and therefore have pre-qualified you or a personal loan of between $1,000 to $3,000... Fixed Simple Interest Rate: Your rate of interest will not change. Loans have an APR of 96%" Whoa! Back up!!! ONLY a mere 96%??? Is that all? What the hell??? According to their chart I'd only have to repay a loan of $3,000 at $256.03 a month or 36 months. Let's do some simple math. $256.03 x 36 months = $9,217.08 $9,217.08 - $3,000.00 = $6,217.08 So, for the privilege of spending $3,000.00 the loaner thinks someone should really spend over $9,000.00? How stupid do they think I am? Isn't this usury? Highly illegal? If not, it should be. Please spare me! Why did someone kill a tree for this nonsense? Why is someone wasting my time sending me this junk? DD#2 is currently shredding this oh so kind offer as I type this. You'll also want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, Sandra Cox, Regina Carlysle, and Cindy Spencer Pape are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)

And yet...there are people who would jump at this and not even realizes what a horribly bad "deal" it is. Scammers like this drive me to the rage.

I'm stunned. 96%. Just...stunned.

Are you sure that wasn't 9.6%??

It always astonishes us when we get offers for credit cards with $500 limits...and then you read the fine print and they want to charge a $50 service charge (one time only fee) and $250 in other fees...so in actuality, your $500 card comes pre-loaded with $300 worth of debt already attached!

We shred those offers too! No more credit cards here!
