DS#2 just told me that a boy at her high school threatened this morning to shoot a girl that has been bullying him. He told her he'd brought a gun to school to stop her. According to my daughter, it was an empty threat, merely meant to scare her into stop bullying him. However, several things happened the boy didn't count on. First, as you and I right away expected to happen, the police apprehended him and questioned him right away. No brainer. Second is that the rumor mill was in high form. By noontime, the boy supposedly only wasn't gunning for the bully but suddenly also gunning for the entire football team, the baseball team, the basketball team, you name it, he was gunning for everybody. S-C-A-R-Y!!! The boy didn't have a gun. It was an empty threat. But of course the police have to take it seriously because too many times, the threats aren't empty. DS#2 also said she spotted a couple undercover policemen posing as high school students. That reminds me of Johnny Depp in "21 Jump Street". Chills just course down me. I'm so happy there wasn't a gun this time. I hope and pray there won't be a next time at her school and not at any school and not at any other place. I also mourn the fact that people bully other people. That is scary! But good to know the administration is proving to be on top of things, instead of dismissing it as a prank.
Was the kid suspended, or is he still allowed in school?
Sad that the kid felt that was his only recourse.
I think it's the ones that don't threaten that you need to worry about. They just go off and do it.
I don't see how you parents let your kids out of your sight every day though I know you must. You have my eternal admiration for your strength.
I don't know what happened to the boy. I don't think my daughter knows yet. I'll ask her to find out Monday.
