Today I received the story posted below in my email at work. I'd like to give the credit to the author except I don't know who he is. I'll put a small comment at the end about it, so read on. *BEST POEM IN THE WORLD* I was shocked, confused, bewilderedAs I entered Heaven's door, not by the beauty of it all, nor the lights or its decor. But it was the folks in HeavenWho made me sputter and gasp--the thieves, the liars, the sinners,The alcoholics and the trash. There stood the kid from seventh grade who swiped my lunch money twice. Next to him was my old neighbor who never said anything nice. Herb, who I always thoughtw as rotting away in hell, was sitting pretty on cloud nine,Looking incredibly well. I nudged Jesus, "What's the deal? I would love to hear Your take. How'd all these sinners get up here?God must've made a mistake. And why's everyone so quiet, so somber, give me a clue." "Hush, child," He said. "They're all in shock. No one thought they'd be seeing you." JUDGE NOT. Remember... Just going to church doesn't make you a Christian any more than standing in your garage makes you a car. Every saint has a PAST... Every sinner has a FUTURE I'm definitely not a car even if my kids think I'm a taxi. I think I'm a good person and a good God-fearing and loving person. I'm definitely not a perfect person. Perfect people are a myth. I certainly can't cast the first stone should anyone wish to start. Frankly, I don't know anyone who has the right. Everyone I've met has flaws. As a story spinner, I create characters with quirks and flaws. A perfect person would be boring. Often we consider "perfect people" to be flawed, sometimes more so than ones who don't try. If you watch "Desperate Housewives" think of Bree. She tries to be perfect and in so doing, she drives people crazy and is probably the most imperfect of all the characters on the show. I look for interesting quirks and flaws to bestow upon my characters. They'd be boring and all alike otherwise. I had to smile at this. So many times think other people are terrible and overlook their own shortcomings and actions. I'm sure I'm not exempt. If I get to Heaven (of course I hope I will), I'll probably react the same way this person did. I'll try not to. I try to be non-judgmental but I occasionally slip from sainthood (don't laugh too loud). You'll also want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, Sandra Cox, Regina Carlysle, and Cindy Spencer Pape are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)

I'm going straight to hell - I won't have to think then
Amen, Ashley:)
Wonderful poem. No perfect people are completely boring and giving out characters a few flaws just makes them more real to the reader.
