Short Promo Prep Time

Yikes! What do you do when your editor gives you a release date a month or less away? Kiss their feet and shout "hallelujah!"? Or groan and bang your head against the wall? Maybe both? I got just this news this week. Don't get me wrong. I'm ecstatic that my book is finally going to be released and that it won't be forever more. But I'm also starting to panic about promoting this book. My last vampire novel, "Blessed Be", the sequel to "Trust, Justice, And The Vampire Way" came out in 2005 so it's been a long time since I've promoted on vampire sites. Since I got home from the day job 3 hours ago, I've been seeking out vampire sites requesting reviews, interviews, and any kind of promo help/exchange. My mind is boggled at all the sites and I'm literally having a headache - well, maybe that's from bending my head funny because I need different glasses and can't read well without bending my head back to see through the bottom half of my progressive lenses. I'd like to write some free promo short stories for my publishers' sites - not only for my vampire romance coming out at Ellora's Cave April 22nd but for my big TEB ad and summer book blitz (at least one release a month there - not vampire books like the EC book) and also for my sweet romance coming out at TWRP (release date to be announced). I'm thinking of buying banners. I should write artices. Be chattier on my readers and author loops. I need to learn my www.ashleyladd.com website management better to update that - maybe tomorrow or Sunday as I'm wiped tonight. I'm about to take two more Ibuprofen and go to bed. I guess I'm not one of the night people anymore even if I write about them. But I need time and energy and I don't have much of either. Maybe one of the psychic vampires drained me. I just read a newspaper article in a South Florida paper about a local real life vampire group. Hmmmm.... I'm open to suggestions for promotion and vampire specific promotion. You'll also want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, Sandra Cox, Regina Carlysle, and Cindy Spencer Pape are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)

You know, I don't stress over promo. Just do what you can do. I have learned that the book will sell regardless how much you drive yourself into a promo frenzy

Congrats on the release date. I don't stress promo that much. I'll post something on several loops where I chat and really like the people and usually I'll have excerpts on a blog or two.
