Should celebrities lives be private?

DD#2 asked with disgust just the other day why it's anyone's business what goes on in celebrities personal lives. Specifically, we were in the grocery check out line and she saw one of those scandal magazines that was judging how stars looked in swim suits. They'd rated Brittany Spears as a "winner" and Kirsty Alley as being a "loser", etc. I don't care if Pamela Anderson goes topless. While I agree with DD#2 about that, I'm not so sure I agree to the same level of privacy when it comes to our political candidates. It's not that I want to embarrass their families or care about how they look in a swim suit or what religion they practice. But if they cheat on their wives, if they're caught lying, if they're caught doing something criminal, I think we need to know. I don't want to vote someone into office that we can't trust. I'm not political and I don't typically get into politics. But this article about Senator John Edwards caught my attention. I feel terrible for his wife and his family. Elizabeth Edwards seems to be a wonderful person. She doesn't deserve this. Neither do their children. Personally, I don't trust the man. He not only lied once but repeatedly. My mother suffered with cancer for years. She eventually died from it. She also suffered from infidelity. Both affect the entire family. I wasn't unscathed. I empathize with Mrs. Edwards and her family. I can't imagine how much worse it must be to go through all this under public scrutiny. One of the reasons I use a pseudonym is to protect my privacy and that of my family. I may never become famous, but just in case, I adopted it. I can't begin to imagine the Paparazzi following me around, trying to dig up dirt and invading my privacy. It's incomprehensible. You'll want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, and Sandra Cox are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)
