Pregnant Men

Did you hear?

There's a pregnant man. No joke. I saw it on the local TV news a couple nights ago.

Reading the story online, I see that he is a transgender man. When his wife couldn't become pregnant, he stopped his hormone injections so he could bear their child.

He says he feels no less a man because he is carrying their baby girl inside him.

Actually, Thomas Beattie isn't the first trans gender man to become pregnant and carry a child. There have been at least two before him.

There's also a pregnant men's website. Again, no joke. See for yourself.

Some people think Mr. Beattie is scamming us. But the web says there were two other men who already gave birth. (transgender men that is)

What do you think? I'm not sure what to think, beyond amazement.

Uh huh...

Okay...I'm confused. I thought transgenders were sterile.

Is he a man who is trying to become female? Or vice versa? Either way this makes no sense. A man wouldn't have had a uterus, and the female wouldn't have been able to impregnate him/herself??? Or am I missing something here?

These are men who used to be women who kept their female insides. They've gone through surgery and hormone therapy to become men and are now legally considered men.

However, I can only guess how they became pregnant. Thomas Beattie is married to a woman, so whether he went to a sperm bank or had a male lover, I don't know. None of the articles I found went into that much detail...

hey i think i is a beautiful thing that a man can have a baby he is not the first and he will not be the last so you might as well get use to it.
