Guest blogging

As promised yesterday, I'd discuss "guest blogging" today. One of my new promotion loops is on the topic this week, so of course I jumped in and gave out the offer to host guest bloggers on my blog. Since my blog mainly deals with writing, editing, publishing, and promotion, that's who I host. My last guest was wonderful best-selling author Cait London and the one before was fabulous best-selling author Holly Jacobs. Judging by the comments in response, I think my audience enjoyed having the opportunity to meet them. I certainly enjoyed having such great visitors. So far, a few authors have bitten and I've set up three guest blog spots to have authors post here and one reciprocal invitation for me to be the guest on their blog. Since I still like to post myself and so I won't go totally crazy, I've decided to make Wednesdays my guest blogger day here at Happily Ever After. I'll make the occasional exception, but Wednesdays will be the normal day you can expect to see a guest on my blog. I'd like to know if you, my audience, like to read guest blog spots and/or interviews with authors and people in the publishing world? I'd also like to know (honestly now) what types of questions you'd like to have answered and what questions you're sick to death of being posed to you as an author, or reading as a reader. I'm open to suggestions of new questions to ask. For my fellow authors who read this post, please tell me if you think being a guest blogger is good promotion for you as the guest and also for the host? Personally, I think any exposure is good promotion. I think it's even better when there's no $ involved. Face it, in these economic times, it's tough to spend unnecessarily. So, here's an invitation: If you'd like to be a guest blogger on my blog please send me an email at: chinara@aol.com Please put "Guest Blogger" in the subject line so I won't mistake it for spam. First come, first serve, for dates. Remember, I'm going to try to keep guest spots to Wednesdays. You'll also want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, Sandra Cox, Regina Carlysle, and Cindy Spencer Pape are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)

How nice of you, Ashley.

As a guest in several blogs, I've found that they are handled differently. The ones that are introduced warmly by a member of the community, and other members who post questions for the guest, get the best response, such as I've just gotten at thegoddessblogs.com on my take of Dimpledom. But just that bit of warmth from the host, such as you showed me here, really works well to grow response. Also pictures help.

I agree, Ash, no such thing as bad pub. Good idea!
I prefer questions kept to a minimum so my interest doesn't wander. And I like questions with a bit of humor to them.

Thanks again Cait, and Sandra. I loved having you guest here Cait. I hope you received many new visitors and readers. Sandra, too.

I made up a long list of interview questions I sent to my interviewees, however, I asked them to pick 5 to answer and return. I hope 5 plus a small article by my guest and a short excerpt will be snappy enough. We'll try it and see.
