Twitter Works

I just received an email from my sitemeter stats tracker and I decided to analyze it against my Twitter posts. I see spikes to my website visits when I tweet on Twitter. A lot of people, my daughter included, seem to think Twitter's a time waster or a lot of noise. I've found a lot of neat things using Twitter. I hear people even find jobs on Twitter. As amazing as I've found Twitter for awhile now, I was still in shock when I read my son's syllabus for one of his classes today. His teacher told the students to sign onto Twitter and be sure to follow him for reminders and messages about class assignments. I'm not talking about college students. This is for 9th graders in highschool. Freshman (or as my daughter calls them "Fresh Meat".) I've tuned into a lot of contests, promo ops, interesting articles, coupon deals for local restaurants, and local tweet-ups ("tweet-ups" are in person meetings for groups on people). Speaking of contests, here are three I found TODAY alone on Twitter. Speak about cool. If you're on Twitter, make sure to check these out. If you're not on Twitter yet, you might want to join. You don't have to - after all, that's less competition for me. I'd really love to win the ereader. RT @elizagaylebooks: Last day for your chance to win a Cooler ereader! http://bit.ly/kPJXX Picking A winner tomorrow. @TinaGerow Win an eBook copy of Fantasy Quest. RT to be entered to win. 1 copy given away for each of the next four days. #FantasyQuest RT @PSGforBiz We are giving away 6 Dell Mini's by Sept 1st RT this message.Top 3 re-tweeters along with 3 random followers WIn!! #PSGforBiz I've not attended a tweet-up yet, but I've booked guest blog spots, entered contests, and joined in a lot of writers and readers chats. I even attended a Twitter book tour the other night. I'm hooked. It's working for me. If you're on Twitter and not already following me, please do. My Twitter name is: Ashleyladd (all one word). You'll also want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, Sandra Cox, Regina Carlysle, and Cindy Spencer Pape are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)

I dropped Twitter. I don't see the point of it at all...probably 'cause I'm too long winded

I'm just getting the hang of Facebook, so I haven't even ventured the Twitter way yet. But you make a great case for it. I might have to look into my inner tweet next. Thanks.

Of course, I'm usually so far behind on things, by the time I do sign up, it'll be out of fashion and something else will be new. Sigh.

I love Face Book, and am resisting Twitter like the plague...although occassionally I'll pop over to see what the big deal is. But I usually don't stay long.

I'm on all the free promo tools like myspace, facebook and twitter but I'll confess I don't TWEET very often.
