I've mentioned it before but it's worth bringing up again - there has to be a balance between writing and staying fit.
That may be a no brainer for many, but it's tough for me. I tend to gain weight if I plant my butt in the chair to write a lot. The more I write, the more I gain.
I need to find balance as I don't want to stop writing. I have a lot of writing goals. But I also want to lose about ten sizes. Maybe twelve.
I spied a dieting mention by a commenter on one of the blogs I frequent. So I checked out the blogger and found two very interesting things: 100 Mile Fitness Challenge and the Game On! Diet.
I just signed up to join the 100 Mile Fitness Challenge. The challenge is from January 1, 2010 through March 31, 2010 to walk at least 100 miles. It can be on a treadmill inside or outside at a park or around your neighborhood. Other forms of exercise can add into the calculations, too.
I emailed my daughters and also my friends at work who say they want to get serious and diet this year about doing the Game On! Diet. I have to look into it deeper but it looks interesting.
For me, challenges and games make things fun and when something's fun, it's always easier to do.
I bought a new set of New Balance gym shoes last weekend and I got the mini trampoline with the bar. Ingredients for spaghetti squash, cabbage soup and smoothies are in the fridge. So I'm ready to go.
I'd be perfect if only I could come up with a cat shifter story. I've made three false starts.

Oh, I know what you're talking about! Before I joined Twitter, I was walking everyday in the early a.m. for 3.8 miles. I listened to my iPod and was happy.
Now that I'm on Twitter and writing short stories that I post on my blog, I haven't gone walking once!
So I think that the best way for me is to get up and go walking and thinking up stories, then a bit of writing.
Also I should stop with the comfort carbs. :)
Good luck with all your good goals!
Excellent! I have been following along with the success other bloggers have been having with the 100 Mile challenge - and Game On is a new one I've seen that has people fired up. Wii Fit is a popular method too - especially if you want results via fun. Good luck - I know you'll find success.
I've started writing my posts at night, in order to cut down on my computer time in the morning. I'm hoping to get back into the walking routine soon!
Hope you're staying warm down there...saw it was only 35 degrees. We're about to have a 'heat wave'...temps in the 40's!! AAAaahhhhhh!!! Oh wait...single digits are sooooo not normal for the 1st week of January!
Molly, that's a good idea. I should get my blogs up at NIGHT. I want to lose some weight too. Have felt that way since my mid 20's. lol. Gonna start with slim fast. No brainer. Grab a can and forget about it. If I get on a roll with that, I'll switch to another kind of weight loss deal. Finding the time and the WILL to exercise is a problem for me. I'm just so sedentary.
Good luck on reaching your goals. We'll be here to cheer you on!
(hangs head in shame...) It only took me 2 1/2 years to learn how to pre-post! Yeah, with this teck-nol-ogy thang, I'm a little slow...
Best wishes with the fitness and diet thing. Know exactly how difficult both of those are!
When I started blogging I put on weight again. I used my walking time to blog, so if anyone notices I'm not blogging as much, it's not because I don't love my blogging friends, but I'm out walking.
I should have gone walking tonight but I'm watching my fav show, American Idol.
I might just have to start getting up early to go to the gym and walk or be anti social on lunch hours, to walk. I'm SOOOOO bad at getting up early, however, I don't know if I can do it.
I pre-post a lot but I'm at the day job all day so I can't change that time to exercise.
