Romance is great but so is friendship - Fall Into Love Blog Hop final day #HopswithHeart

www.hopswithheart.blogspot.com

Romance is greater than great but so is friendship.

My erotic romance 'Her Men' explores friendship from two angles in this reunion story.

First Julie comes face to face with her old BFF Connie. Happily, they hit it off again right from the start as if they haven't been apart for twenty years. They confide in each other, support each other, and just enjoy being together.

Although this relationship isn't foremost in the story, it's still very important. Connie plays an important role. Not only is she Julie's confidante, but she's also Julie's mouthpiece whether Julie knows it (or approves of it) or not. Connie catapults the story forward in several places. She's a crucial secondary character and the story would suffer without her, just as Julie would suffer without her best friend.

Next, and foremost to the story, Julie runs into James. He was also one of her best friends twenty years ago in college. The difference is she harbored deep romantic feelings for James and fantasized about him (and what she'd do with him) over the long years. Now that they're together again, she prays she'll get her chance to see if there's a forever with James or if they're destined just to remain friends and nothing else.

Read on for an excerpt about friendship from 'Her Men'.

Title: Her Men

Publisher: Totally Bound

Genre: Contemporary Erotic male-female-male romance

Book Length: 22,000 words

BLURB:

Forty-four year old Julie Weston has loved Timmy and James since her college days twenty something years ago. She's fantasized about both all these long years, never able to choose between them.
Hoping Tim and James will attend, she attends their college marching band reunion. When both men show up her dreams are answered. They're sexier than she imagined and she hopes they won't be disappointed by her older self.

It turns out both men came just to see her again and neither is happy about the other’s presence. They fight over her, confusing her more than ever. It takes a hot mĂ©nage…or two…for her heart to decide which one she’s in love with.

EXCERPT:

She needed help. Then she remembered her best friend. Connie had been through this. Perhaps she could help.

She excused herself and sought out her friend, who was on the other side of the ship, leaning on the rail, staring at their wake. “It’s gorgeous, isn’t it?”

“Totally. To think Biloxi was destroyed by Katrina a few years ago and had to be rebuilt.” Julie almost felt as though she was speaking about herself, only her killer hurricane was named Tim. He’d done a real number on her.

Connie turned and stared at the approaching metropolis. “It sure looks different with all the casinos. But it’s still beautiful.”

Getting up her nerve, she took a deep breath. “When we get back, I need to talk to you in private. Can you come to my room?”

“Sure, sweetie. Is everything all right?”

“Not really. But I don’t want to discuss it in public.”

Connie dipped her head and lowered her voice. “Okay. I think you’re being hunted.”

Julie twisted around and saw Tim heading toward them. He was so handsome with the sun shining on his dark hair, his unbuttoned shirt revealing a patch of springy chest hair, with a devilish glint in his hazel eyes. They reflected the green of the ocean and the blue of the clear sky. They sought her out, devoured her.

“I should’ve known you’d be with Connie, thick as thieves, just like the old days.” Tim shot a charming smile their way as he closed the gap between them.

Like the old days… It didn’t feel like there was a twenty-year gap since they were all together. She felt young again. She was in love again. She had her BFF back. If only this weekend could last forever.

I have lost touch with friends over the years and reconnected with some, but the relationships are not the same. That's okay I am glad they are doing well. People change and life is busy, especially if you have a family or demanding career.
Great excerpt!
Thank you for the opportunity to read one of your stories. :)
