Super Heroes, Angels, or Gods?

Somedays, don't you feel like this is so true? (the pic above)
After I saw "Hancock" last night, something in the movie got me to thinking. I don't think I'm spoiling anything by mentioning this. Everybody knows from the movie trailers that Hancock is a superhero. What the movie brings up, and I never thought of before, is that the people we in this day and age consider "super heroes" would have been looked upon as gods or angels by people several hundred or thousands of years ago. Why the difference in perception? Is it that we're more religious now that we don't think there are multiple gods? Or are we less religious and don't see them as Biblical creatures? I'm not sure which to think. I can see, though, why an ancient people would see beings with such awesome powers as being gods or angels -- if there really were such people. While there are myths and even Bible tales of angels and gods visiting Earth thousands of years ago, there are only fiction stories in contemporary times about "super heroes". For those of you in or from the US who celebrated our Independence Day today, I hope you enjoyed it. We watched an amazing display from the comfort of my son's porch. It was so much more relaxing than getting in the middle of crowds at one of the parks or the beach. Here's one more laugh for the day. hehehe

Reviews

I'm really tired tonight so this won't be long. I just have a couple personal reviews. The hubby took me to see "Hancock" and I was not at all impressed. In fact, I was confused and barring a couple LOL moments, I was bored. I couldn't wait for the movie to end. Usually I love Will Smith, but he didn't save the movie sorry to say. I've not read Pink Truth in quite awhile but checked in today. It's specifically about Mary Kay but this article "More Good Press For Pink Truth" speaks about MLM's in general if you're interested. I admit it. I'm bitter about my experience in Mary Kay. The worst part is that I lost friends and I feel funny going to church where I tried to sell it. My hubby was so angry at me about spending so much money on inventory that we barely spoke for over a year. My kids were upset about it. Okay, I won't go any deeper into it except to say I'm highly embarrassed I was ever associated with it. Read for yourself what others have gone through, similar to and worse than I found: Pink Truth

Here's a great review I received for Best Mates in the "Brit Party" anthology at TEB. I'm thrilled.

Best Mates is both heartwarming and deliciously sensual. Ms. Ladd knows just how to make her readers tremble with anticipation with each sentence she delivers. Her characters are genuine enough to make every reader’s heart swell, even for those who don’t typically enjoy reading ménage romance. There is no doubt in my mind that readers everywhere will be anxiously awaiting more of Ms. Ladd’s writing after finishing BEST MATES.
