Movie Remake Craze

Saturday night hubby and I celebrated our anniversary by going out to dinner and seeing a movie. We saw the remake of "Day The Earth Stood Still". I'm probably one of the few people who didn't see the original. Anyway, it got me to thinking, not about ecology and saving the earth as it was meant to (not that I'm against those things), but about why is Hollywood remaking so many old movies when there are so many new stories dying to be told on film? Why isn't the film industry snapping up more new projects? Why are we remaking everything, even The Hulk which was just remade? Don't they think our stories are good enough? I've read many great new stories, many that would make great movies. Am I the only one who's wondered this? You'll also want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, Sandra Cox, Regina Carlysle, and Cindy Spencer Pape are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)

I think remakes are easier for them, and if they already own the rights to the story, it's cheaper too.
