Eye exam results, etc.

What is this world coming to? Earlier today a woman was caught in my part of the country poisoning baby food in the grocery store. They caught her on camera, they apprehended her with the poison in her car, they had eye witnesses who turned her in but she had the nerve to say she was just mixing up baby food for her baby. Her "baby" is 21 years old. WHY would someone want to poison babies? Interviews with people who know her claim she's bi-polar. I know that's serious and bi-polar people have been known to have affairs or even be suicidal. But this is the first time I ever heard of it as an excuse for poisoning babies. Changing gears, I finally had my eye exam today. I don't remember if I mentioned my eyesight seems to have grown way worse in the past couple months, but it has. It's been hard to read books or work at the day job or even edit because of it. The doctor agreed - sort of. She said my prescription has really changed - only my eyes have improved a lot. But my lenses are so wrong for me I can't see. On the surface, this sounds like good news. I don't have glaucoma or cataracts and my eyes made an improvement instead of worsening. But the only thing she knows that causes a big jump in eyesight change so fast is diabetes. She wrote me a scrip to have my blood tested for diabetes. She doesn't want me to get glasses until we make sure I'm not diabetic - or if I am diabetic, until I've been on diabetic meds for about 8 weeks and given my eyes time to get back to whatever is normal for them. Since I have thyroid problems, my doctors test me at least once a year for that and usually throw in a test for diabetes. So far, diabetes hasn't shown up. But it's been many months since my blood sugar's been tested. So I have to make an appointment with my general practitioner tomorrow to be tested. Cross your fingers for me. I really don't want diabetes. I'm scared to death of needles. I am definitely going back on my diet and exercise regime (which I say right after I ate Mickey D's fries). I already have two doctor's appointments this week. My boss is just going to love me making a third one in the same week (if I can even get an appointment so fast). I still haven't had my evaluation so I hate to leave work so much when my boss is thinking about my performance and attendance. You'll also want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, Sandra Cox, Regina Carlysle, and Cindy Spencer Pape are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)

Hey girl, first, I will praying for you about the diabetes thing. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't have my sugar and second, I just watched that story on that woman poisoning the baby food. What the heck is this world coming to?

Hugs, sweetie:) Even if you do test pos for diabetes, maybe it will the type you can manage with just meds???

And you don't have to give up sugar entirely...you just have to watch how much of it you eat.

Diabetes can often be treated with pills and diet change. That's the kind I have. So don't panic! And good luck!
