Family Visit

We're supposed to visit with my aunt, uncle, and cousins today (although I'm writing this the night before) on the other coast of Florida. My cousin just called to tell me that my uncle just fell off a step. They're worried about him and would like to take him to the emergency room, but he's being his usual stoic self and doesn't want to go, at least not yet. He said that if he feels bad in the morning, then he'll go. I'm afraid he's holding out because of our planned visit. He and I last saw each other last June in Cincinnati. He last saw my daughters last May in Daytona at my cousin's wedding. He last saw my husband and my sons a couple years ago. As my aunt and uncle live in Ohio and my nuclear family live in Florida, we usually only see each other once a year when they come down to Florida to visit their daughter, my cousin, Debbie. As Debbie and her husband live about 4 hours away, my little part of the family only get to see them for a day if we're lucky. I'm very close to my aunt and uncle. They think they've made more of an effort to be good to me and my family since my mom (my uncle's sister) died twenty years ago, but the trust is, they've always been wonderful to me and to all of us. They're wonderful people and they're good to everyone they meet, family or not. How I'd love to be like them. I try. They're both good role models. I hope I've achieved at least half of what they are. I know very few other people as beautiful as they are. I mean on the inside although they're also beautiful on the outside, even now in their 80's. I really hope we get to visit, but at the same time, I mostly want Uncle Bill to be well. I don't want him to avoid medical care because of me. I suppose my aunt and cousin would make him go to the hospital if they saw he was doing too badly. They're smart people. I'll let you know tomorrow what happens. Meanwhile, if you're the praying sort, please keep my Uncle Bill in your prayers. You'll also want to see what Amarinda Jones, Anika Hamilton, Anny Cook, Barbara Huffert, Brynn Paulin, Bronwyn Green, Dakota Rebel, Kelly Kirch, Molly Daniels, Sandra Cox, Regina Carlysle, and Cindy Spencer Pape are up to, so make sure to visit them also. :)

Your Uncle sounds like the resilient kind - as are you and like him your are a good person...maybe sometimes you just get caught up in other stuff and don't see it

I hope your uncle's okay and that you get to have a wonderful visit. Ironically, I saw my uncle today for the first time in a couple years. He was here for my Grandma's 90th birthday. It was a nice visit.
