How Much Time Do You Spend Blogging?
Most of the attendees said, "Too much but not enough."
Strangely enough, I know what they mean.
Blogging can take a lot of time, at least to do it right. Yet, life goes on around us so we can't (at least shouldn't) stay on the computer all the time. Yet, we spend a lot of time on the computer, often too much time. At least I do.
Often I skip exercising to blog. Time I used to spend writing books, I blog instead. Every evening before I go to sleep, I have to spend some time blogging and checking email.
Yet, despite that, there's not enough time. I'd like to design a new blog template. I'd like to write more posts. I'd like to add tabs to the blog and plan special feature days. Eventually I hope to do all of the above and more, but it won't be nearly as soon as I'd like.
Sometimes, life gets in the way. This week for example, my aunt died. Also, I worked at least two hours late at my day job four different days this week.
Blogging isn't for sissies.
Do you spend a lot of time blogging?

What Prompts Me To "Follow" A Blog
It's the weekend and so I get some free time. Perhaps I should be writing (fiction writing, not blogging) but I'm doing another favorite activity - blog hopping.
Why I Visit Blogs
I visit blogs for many reasons. I like to keep current with the romance writing/reading/promotion news. I like to learn new things about writing and publishing so I read editors/agents/other writers/and even readers blogs. I can get lost in blogland for hours.
In the course of visiting other blogs, I find some I love, some I like, and some I don't like so much. Usually the ones I like share useful information about writing/promoting/or publishing. I also enjoy blogs that share gossip, opinions and news about the romance writing community. I also like to read about writers' day to day lives.
Why I follow a blog
Before I "follow" a blog I read several posts on the blog. Sometimes I may visit several days before following. If I enjoy the posts, if the blogger follows me, if the blogger comments on my blog and befriends me, I follow them.
However, I don't follow blogs that only post excerpts from their books. I also don't follow blogs that are purely book reviews. I don't follow blogs that bore me.
I want to learn and/or be entertained. I want to connect with other writers and readers. I want to meet interesting people. I want to get ideas for blog posts.
Why do you follow a blog?
Why do you follow blogs? Do you follow many?

Adult toys, blogs, and the very sexy liberator
Wow! I was actually just looking for a new website design when I found this advertisement for the Liberator, that kinky piece of furniture above that's designed to give couples the option of more liberating and different sexual positions.
The whole site, You Won't Go Blind, is full of great adult links like the one for the amazing Liberator.
I found adult blogs, free erotic stories, lots of lingerie and sex toys, etc.
And all I was looking for was a second website design for my other author name for a sweet romance that's coming out soon. Since my editor doesn't want that name and story associated with Ashley Ladd - gee, I wonder why? I'm hurt. I have to start yet another blog.
This is my main blog, but I also blog on my My Space blog - occasionally when I remember, the 5th of every month at Hitting the Hot Spot, the 19th of every month at Rom Erotica Writers blog, and now every Saturday at The Deadly Vixens blog. That's all. And now I have to make yet another blog for my other author name?
I was hoping to find another premade blog (really read this - DON'T SPEND TOO MUCH MONEY! or you might read it CHEAPSKATE. or you might read it STRESSED OUT MOM WITH A HUGE FOOD BILL BECAUSE OF MUCHO KIDS WHO DON'T WORK YET BUT WHO NEED TO GET OFF THEIR LAZY ARSES, FIND A JOB, AND HELP PAY THE BILLS!) where I might have to share the design with a couple people, but hopefully not too many like the totally free layouts or a home made layout (READ I'M A WRITER NOT AN ARTIST AND THE DAUGHTER ARTIST STILL NEEDS TO GET OFF HER LAZY ARSE AND AT LEAST DESIGN A FREE BLOG LAYOUT FOR HER DEAR OLD MOM WHO PAYS FOR ALL HER FOOD AND CLOTHING ETC ETC).
Oh well. I know you're not used to ME yelling so much on the blog. Maybe I'm just FED UP with my LAZY ADULT KIDS FREELOADING OFF ME!
Okay, now I have that off my chest - at least for the moment. I can breath again and stop yelling.
So far, I only found other blogs to surf that my design company designed for other people. I didn't find any premade designs this time. I saw "QUICKIES", but no, they're not the same as our (erotic romance writers) "quickies". These were $100 plus blog layouts. I was hoping more for something like $50 and under, better yet $25.
I should know that in this economy the price of everything else has gone up, thus so would blog layouts.
So, I'll surf for other web designers even though I like the company otherwise that designed this blog layout and my layout at www.ashleyladd.com (check it out if you haven't).
And if you get bored, check out that Liberator. Boy would I like to! But hubby can barely walk anymore so this would probably kill him - even to think about it. But maybe...maybe I can dream about it and feature it in one of my stories and live vicariously.
